Take the headache out of choosing what to wear for a wedding with one of our gorgeous new dresses from Nougat and The Pretty Dress Company. We’re stocking the London-based Nougat for this summer only with a carefully edited collection of easy to wear dresses and co-ordinating cardigans. This striking blue dress (below, £97) with its fern print, back zip detail and flattering side knot is an instant winner. If you like prints, take a look at Nougat’s Fifi dress (below, £86). Even if you’re not normally a fan of prints, this is definitely one to try on. Made from a super flattering stretch cotton, it hugs in all the right places while the bold print can hide any wobbly areas! To create a knockout outfit, choose accessories that pick up the bright vermillion trim around the neck and sleeves.

For easy-going daytime dressing, choose one of Nougat’s simple jersey wraps (below, from £76). Available in electric blue, apple green and khaki, they come with short or three-quarter length sleeves and you don’t really need much in the way of embellishment. Don’t just keep these for weddings either – you could just as easily play it down with flip flops and a straw hat for the beach!

If it’s Mad Men style curves you’re after, you can’t beat The Pretty Dress Company and their figure enhancing hourglass dresses. A favourite with celebrities, these amazing dresses magically nip and tuck in all the right places thanks to the stretch cotton and stretch sateen bodice lining – you have to try it to believe it! New for summer and perfect for weddings are these Seville flower print versions (top and below, £89), available in cream, pink, mint and black. They are also available in red or navy with white polka dots for a proper retro feel, or plain black.

Don’t forget to choose a head piece of some sort to finish off your wedding outfit. Coloured jeans are still big news for summer but with more colours than a Dulux paint card, choosing your favourite shade can be tricky. This season there seems to be two camps – bright and bold or pretty and pastel. And from Sat 4th-Sat 11th May you can enjoy 15% off all denim purchases, so why not take a pair from both camps!

Bright lights

Coloured denim is a really easy way to brighten up your wardrobe; the trick is to balance what’s on the bottom with what’s on the top. So, if you fancy going bold on the bottom, choose a top in more muted tones or go for simple black or white. Top of our pick in the brights category are Fransa’s lightweight jeans (£39.99). Slim fitting with a little stretch, they are incredibly flattering and comfortable too. We love the electric blue version (top) but they also come in a gorgeous orangey coral colour (below).

For this season’s most fashionable length, it’s got to be the 7/8th jean, just falling short of the ankle bone. This style looks really fresh with pumps, but you can roll them up if the new length is not for you. The Crayola coloured Perry jeans by Joules (£49.95) are well worth a look. Skinny in style, they come in three gorgeous primary-school colours: sea blue, apple and hot pink.

If you really want to stand out from the crowd try a pair of Great Plains skinny jeans in Mosaic (£50), a look-at-me green that’s just perfect for summer. We’re thinking white vest, white pumps and a beautiful warm tan…!

Pretty in pastel

If you prefer your colour up-top, take a look at this season’s muted pastel coloured jeans. Fransa’s electric blue version (see above) also comes in a lovely, natural stone colour as well as white (below), a summer essential!

You could have a lot of fun with Great Plains’ mushroom coloured super skinny jeans (£50). Team with a clashing print in pink or coral for eye-catching spring-time glamour.

If you find the thought of wearing white jeans slightly scary, try this soft stone-coloured version from Noa Noa (£56) as an alternative. Just as flattering, they look great worn with navy blue and red nautical tops or dress them up with some fierce heels and a flower print shirt (see our Top Trend feature for some great shirt options…)

If you love that Northern European sense of simple style, then you’ll love the new brands we’ve got coming into store this summer. Masai (above and below) is a fantastic, well-established Danish brand that’s great for playing with texture and layers. Think printed tunics teamed with crops all in the most beautiful shades…

Another Danish brand, Cream (below), gives us outfits that have a more feminine touch. Beautiful layering pieces, they are slightly more ornate with vintage detailing and muted colours.

Bohemia, from Sweden, offers clothes which, unsurprisingly, are rather Bohemian! With their feminine frills and flair, these are clothes that make you feel like a woman! From gypsy skirts and flowery tunics to pretty vintage style cardigans (below), if you’re looking for something a bit different, this is the label to come to.

Along with other local stores, we are showcasing our new spring collections in a charity fashion show in aid of the Breast Cancer Research Fund. Ah, this temperamental weather! Freezing one minute, sunny the next… what’s a girl to wear? Thank goodness, then, for our faithful friend, the cardigan! It’s the ideal winter to spring item – cosy enough to keep you warm when the winds blow yet light enough to shed and hide away in your bag should the need arise. No wonder we all love them, and this season there are a number of variations on offer.

For a cute pop of colour, take a look at the cropped cardies from Great Plains (above and below). The gorgeous apple green cardie (above, £65) with its touch of angora and diamante button adds a bit of glamour to your outfit or keep it simple with a cotton-mix one-button cardigan (below, £50).
